Here are my favorite macarons, and a collection of wedding favors for those that love to throw their own party.
I’ve never found macarons to be my favorite food, so when I saw these lovely little paper-thin pastries, filled to the brim with fruit and chocolate, that made my mouth water. And speaking of mouths, they are delicious. The only issue is that they are more expensive than what you’d normally find in a macaron shop, but still worth every penny.
I personally think macarons are the perfect dessert, but I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the idea of having to get a macaron in a restaurant. But I love to have one in a jar, and am a macaroon fan. So I guess that’s what I’ll try to do.
When I was a kid I was a huge fan of macarons. I grew up eating them for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. But I never had the pleasure of ordering them in a restaurant. Well I did, only because I was visiting my grandmother in Boston. She was a HUGE fan of macarons. She told me how much I resembled my grandparents, so I figured she would be happy we were having macarons for breakfast. But she wasn’t.
She loved macarons so much that she actually was willing to pay for a plate. So I was shocked when I tried them out at a wedding reception. I still wasn’t really sure what to expect. The main course was my all-time favorite: macaron salad! I don’t know about you, but I thought that was an amazing idea. The only problem was that there weren’t very many of those around. But that’s not to say I was disappointed.
Macarons are a type of pastry with a dense, chewy center. They are made of flour and sugar and usually have a caramel inside. There are two main categories of macaron. One is a traditional, sweet little rectangle of white cake. The other is a more sweet and airy version made with a thick, sweet filling of sugar, cream cheese, and nuts.
Today they are available in all sorts of shapes and flavors, but the most popular is still the rectangular, white cake. They are sometimes made with a caramel inside, but most often are made with butter, cream cheese, and cinnamon. I was surprised to see not many people in our neighborhood had them. There was one bakery that had macarons, but I imagine most people in our neighborhood have them at home.
This is an awesome idea, but it’s also a really, really expensive one. I can’t think of a single place that would sell them to you for less than $10. Even if you had several hundred dollars, it would be a good idea to have an excellent cake, frosting, and or syrup to top it off.
The macarons, also known as macarons-creme, are the same type of pastry that is baked in a box and served at weddings. Instead of being cooked in a pan, they are cooked in a dough that is shaped in a mold. They are then baked by the bride and groom in a special oven to create a wedding favor and a wedding cake.
The macarons-creme are a favorite of many brides and grooms because they are so easy to make, and the ones I have tasted are not too bad to begin with. They have a creamier consistency than other pastries, and they are actually quite moist. These are great for dessert, and they are often served with coffee or tea. This is a tradition that dates back to the wedding cakes of the early 1900’s.
