At this point, it’s hard to imagine that there are more than a handful of people in the world working on the urban design front. But when you consider that there are at least two million people that work in the design field, it’s a wonder that we don’t all do it.

A good example of how the job can vary is the design and construction of high-rise buildings. If it is your goal to have a high-rise building designed by someone that knows what they are talking about, you may not want to hire someone who has never designed a high-rise building.

However, if you are doing a job like this, you should also make sure that they have experience with your project. Otherwise, you will run the risk of hiring someone who is only familiar with your project and who knows what they are talking about.

Or, even worse, I’ve hired people who don’t know how to build a high-rise building. There’s this whole concept of “knowledge of the field” that can be a huge problem in the hiring process.

The question is, what is your audience? Is it a group of creative people who want to build cool stuff? Or is it a group of people who want to buy a house and live in it? It could very well be the latter. If you’re a contractor, then you probably want a house, right? But if you’re an architect, then you probably don’t.
The big thing for an architect is getting their clients to buy a house. As part of that, you need to work with other architects, contractors, developers, sales people, and so on. You need to take on roles beyond just building the house. For example, you need to sell it on to the right people. This is a huge job, and it is a big part of the job of an architect.
The work Ive done is mostly in the office of an architect, who is also my boss. But I have also done a couple of home renovation jobs, and you can hire me to do many other jobs, too.
