Siri is a pretty amazing robot that makes you feel like you’re on the home screen of your phone. But there is a little bit of a catch. Siri is great at following you around and giving you directions, but that doesn’t mean it knows everything you want it to know.
If you’re like most people, you use your phone to do a lot of the things you dont want to do on a phone. Like taking a picture of your lunch, driving to the grocery store, scheduling an appointment, or even typing up a note to your best friend. But Siri is a very capable assistant for many of those things too. I’m sure you’ve already heard of Siri being able to recognize your voice in the same way that your phone can.
The problem is that Siri is only good for a limited number of things. For example, if your phone has a voice mail function, and you want to leave a message for your friend, you will have to put in a lengthy sentence in Siri’s “conversations” menu. Siri will then recognize the words you type and translate them into the right language for your message. If that doesnt work, Siri will just recognize them and read it out loud, no translation required.
There are other functions, like voice command and dictation, Siri can do, but they are only available for certain apps. Siri also has a weird, limited, and strange behavior where it will sometimes think it has a problem with you if it thinks you are speaking in a foreign language, but will always try to communicate in the language you first used to make it.
The thing I really liked about this app is that it doesnt have that weird behavior. Also, the app is not available in the UK, so I downloaded a copy from the App Store in the US, and I even have a British-only version. The problem is, I use both English and Italian when I’m working, so this isnt the best app for me.
Siri is a very useful app that helps you with your daily life. It can play all the video games you want, read your emails, and make phone calls. It also provides you with directions and other information you may need at some point. I have a problem with its inability to understand some of the English sentences it finds if you send it in a language that is not one of your own. Unfortunately, it may be the only thing that prevents this from working entirely.
Siri does understand most of my words, but it will only understand about half of the sentences I use. For example, I have a tendency to use a lot of exclamation marks and other non-standard punctuation when sending and receiving messages. It will often interpret those as punctuation errors and not understand that they are actually part of the sentence.
It’s actually worse than that. It will interpret those non-standard punctuation as punctuation and not as words. So instead of thinking what is a word, this device will assume that what it is is another word. So when I say “I love you,” it will answer back, “I love you.” Which, for me, is incredibly irritating.
A lot of people (myself included) send and receive messages via ‘i’ phones, which is a mobile phone that has a small speaker, but no speakerphone. When you send a message, you will be able to hear the message, and then you can also speak (unless you are sending a very short message, like, “hi”, or a message that is too short to be able to hear the other person).
This is one of the reasons Siri does not have Siri voice search, no matter how many times I have tried. Siri is not a voice at all, and that is why it cannot respond to short messages. This is part of why it is so annoying when someone will give you a voice greeting to use, but not one of those replies will allow you to send a message. I have also used it to answer questions that I know you are not able to answer.
