This article was written by two different writers from the same site (a Catholic blog) who are both Roman Catholics, living in the same part of the world. I thought it would be good to share it with all of you because it touches on some very common topics that Catholics face.
When I asked these two writers the same question, I was surprised at how often they had the same answer. It’s a problem particularly in the U.S. where the Church is so heavily hierarchical that any criticism of the hierarchy and its dogmas is very difficult to take. So although I know both writers are Catholics, I wasn’t expecting them to be quite so liberal in their responses.
I had the same reaction when I read in the paper that one of the writers said that the U.S. is the “global epicenter of anti-Catholicism,” and the other one said that “anti-Catholicism is the most prevalent form of religion in the U.S.
Again, I have two responses. One: Not really. We have no problems here in the U.S. at all with religion. You may not like it, but it does not plague my life or that of my family. It is just the way we are. And two: I have noticed over the years that there are many people who are very liberal in other countries, and they tend to be very liberal in the U.S. as well.
Roman Catholicism is the Catholic Church’s way of limiting its members’ freedom to do as they please. If you are Catholic and you’re not doing what you want to do or not doing it the way you want to, I would not be concerned about your religion. If you have a problem with that, I would say, “That is your right”.
One way to protest is to refuse to follow the rules. Another is that the rules and the system itself are not the problem, but that they are the problem in themselves and you can’t take that away from them. The problem is that so many people are willing to follow the rules without protest. So the Church is basically saying, ‘You have the right and ability to do whatever you want. But the Church should stay out of your way.
I actually have the opposite problem with religion. This is the religion that says, “We are not wrong, we have the truth and we can prove our claims.” I cant prove that I am wrong, because I have no proof. I cant prove I am right because I have no proof. I cant prove I am both. I cant prove that I am all three. I cant prove the one God is real. I cant prove that I am all three.
romania is definitely not the sort of religion that I would want to be a part of. But I actually think it’s pretty cool.
romania coin? So it is a religion that believes that the one God is real? Really? Why would I want to be part of a religion that believes that God is a person or an entity that I don’t know? Why would I want to be a part of a religion that says that one of three gods is the only one who is real? I think I would rather have no religion. I think this is actually a pretty cool idea.
