Interior details are so important and so important to our satisfaction as a homeowner. I’ve learned many valuable things about interior design from my clients. Here are just a few of those things.
Color is an important part of home decor, and knowing what goes in your home and what doesn’t is very important. When I was new to interior design, it was difficult to figure out what to do with the stuff I already had. When I finally made my own color palette, I was able to create a lot of color combinations that I didn’t even know existed. If you can’t get a good color palette, start with two colors and work your way up from there.
So how do you know what to paint? When you find out that you want to paint the inside of your house, you can use the same approach I did to determine what colors I wanted to use. To determine what colors I wanted to use, I started off with my clients. All of their interiors were painted, and some were even completely painted.
That usually results in a very similar color scheme. Some colors you can use in two different rooms, some colors are more difficult to work with. The color that I like best to use for rooms is a very light gray, as well as some deep browns. I like to paint gray because I am able to get the interior of a room to feel light and airy, and it also blends well with the natural light that comes in through the windows.
The colors you use also determine how much you pay for the paint job. The more expensive the paint, the less paint you can get for the same amount of paint. Most of the time this is the result of the paint manufacturer paying for labor and materials. That said, some paint manufacturers pay for the paint itself, but I have seen paint companies that are willing to buy it from the manufacturer for a fraction of the cost.
One good thing about a new home is that you can afford to do some nice things like adding a kitchen, bathroom, or den. But these spaces are often overlooked. You can fill them with fancy furniture or art or whatever you’d like, but the most important thing is to fill them with you. You’ll need to remember that the way you decorate these spaces will influence your surroundings.
For the most part, you should decorate your interior spaces to complement the space you’re living in. Many people decorate rooms in a way that’s not really functional. It’s like being on a boat and deciding to paint all the interior deck areas to match the rest of the boat.
That is the problem. You can’t just paint all the interior decks to match the rest of the boat. The decks have to make sense as a whole. A deck that’s not used can be more confusing to your neighbors and that can have a negative impact on your property value. As a general rule, don’t paint your rooms like an “off the rack” house.
Again, painting just the interior deck areas won’t be enough to make your room work. You also need to paint things that will impact the value of your home like your front doors, floors, and ceilings. These are the most important things because they determine the amount of value you can get for the home.
Paint is a very low-maintenance surface that can be left alone for years while you get all the other things you need done. A little paint will not affect the value of your home, but a little paint can have a huge impact on it. It will add a little bit of “ooh” and “oo” factor to the room, it will give your home a bit of an air of luxury, and it will help you blend in with the neighborhood.
