In reality, mindfulness is just another word for “self-awareness.” The definition, for people who have an actual definition for it, is “the quality of being aware of your present experience without being preoccupied with the past, the future, or the past experience.”2 That you can do something to make your life better just by changing your habits is a little misleading. It implies that you can make your life better by changing your habits.
The idea here is that mindfulness can be used to change your habits, not your life. So if you want to make your life better, you don’t need to go through the tedious process of changing your habits, you just need to focus on what you’ve been doing anyway.
