Elvis Presley wore what we now call “Formal Clothing.” In other words, he was always dressed in a suit and tie, and wore a white shirt and tie to all his public performances.
For the first five years of his life, Elvis stayed in the same house with his parents. Now, with him having a new, and very large, career, he’s been forced to dress and act differently for his fans. In his recent autobiography, he describes how he had to wear a tie to his concerts to avoid getting spotted in the crowd, and he also explains that he had to wear his own sunglasses because he’s been wearing them since his first solo performance.
This is a great example of the difference between what we want to be and how we actually act. A person with a strong sense of self-awareness would never have to wear his own sunglasses, but a person without self-awareness would have to wear those sunglasses all the time. The same is true of a person with a strong sense of fashion. We want to be a rock star, but we don’t want to be a rock star in a tie.
In Elvis Presley’s day, we had to wear white shirts and black pants. We didn’t have the luxury of those types of clothes, so instead, we wore “white tie and tails” black slacks. We had to wear the same kind of clothes every day. It was a lot of work.
The irony is that if we were to have those kinds of clothes, we would also have to wear them every day, so we have to wear our own sunglasses all the time.
I think this is the reason why the first few Elvis movies were so bad. We’re forced to wear this terrible clothing, and our clothes are ugly and we have to wear sunglasses to look like we’re not a douche.
But we’re not douchey. We wear the same clothes every day.
It’s funny that people have actually found our clothing a bit of a drag. The other day I was in the department store, and a couple of guys were trying on the same style of suits, and they were soooooo ugly. They were soo unflattering. People were staring at them. I guess the same thing is true with our clothes, but we dress better than most people.
We all have to wear sunglasses to conceal the fact that we are not the most attractive people. Like, we all know this, but it bothers us. We do this because we want to be able to put on our best face in public, but we don’t want to look like a douche.
People have to wear sunglasses for a reason, and the reason is that they are worn in public. They are not used to having anyone look at them. So they take a couple minutes to put them on, and then they put them back on when they are finally alone. It’s like they become a part of the fabric of their own identity. So we dress better than most people because we want to look good, and we dont want to be a douche.
