“Welsh girl names will change the way you think about everything.” That’s how this blog post starts.
And it’s not just a catchy title. Welsh girls’ names have influenced art, literature and fashion for centuries. They might even be changing your life as we speak! So what are you waiting for? Get ready to find out all there is to know about Welsh girl names in 8 Reasons that will make you say “Whoa!”
Reason #01: Welsh girl names represent a rich heritage. They’re steeped in history and tradition, and they’ve been handed down from generation to generation for centuries.
Reason #02: There are so many great options! Want an exotic name? We got you covered with Ednyfedh or Esyllt. Looking for something more traditional? Why not go the Bronwen route? You can’t go wrong with any of these beautiful Welsh girls’ names on this list as your daughter’s moniker.
Reason #03: A good Welsh girl name will give her a unique identity that she’ll be able to carry throughout her life–no matter where she goes or who she meets! It doesn’t get much better
A name will always hold a certain power.
But most people don’t think about the fact that this is true for all cultures and languages alike — not just English or Spanish. If you want to explore international naming systems, Welsh names are an excellent place to start! Here we provide eight reasons why Welsh girl names might change your life forever:
Which of these words do you find more beautiful? Nicole, Nia, Nyah? Names like “Nia” have been popularized by celebrities like Beyoncé and Kylie Jenner in recent years because they sound fresh and unique with their short, melodic vowels. And while some may argue that many girls’ first impressions of a long-winded name will be enough to make it off their list, Nia is likely to be in the running for top of that same list.
Here’s a great way to find your own perfect name: visit websites like babynamesworldwide.com and look at lists alphabetically by country or region (in this case, Wales). You’ll find names you had never heard before alongside those you’re more familiar with — but they all have something special about them! Keep scrolling down until you hit “W.” The first few entries may seem less flashy than A-D girls’ names, but don’t let yourself stop there. If we haven’t struck gold on our first try yet then keep going through each letter one by one until we do! And if not, at least we’ll have some great options to add to the list.
This is a really good time for searching for Welsh names, too: many sources are running out of new ones!
This means that there’s less competition and more opportunity to find something truly special. The name Ffion has been popping up on our radar lately, with its origins in Wales meaning ‘white flower’. It also stands as an Anglicized form of Fiona or fy-own (meaning fair one). We’re not sure if it will replace Emma as the most popular choice any time soon but it could easily be your next favorite girl’s name — especially when you know this beautiful backstory behind how it came about!
In what way do you think Welsh girl names will change the way you think about everything? I can’t wait to see what this generation of Welsh mothers chooses, and how their children’s lives are impacted by it. I hope that they’re able to find a balance between preserving cultural roots, while honoring their individuality as parents. The word “Welsh” translates roughly into English as ‘foreign’ so it could be argued that there is a certain level of disconnect from one’s heritage inherent in being born with an Anglicized name. However, maybe we’ll start seeing more surnames that have been anglicized like Williams or Jones go back through history and restore some Welsh-sounding first names too! And if not.. at least we’ll have some great options to add to our list!
