Clan Names are one of the most hilarious things to come out of the video game world.
Whether it’s a group that has an odd sense of humor or just something silly, there is always someone who tweets about them.
Some people find clan names so funny they don’t even realize which games they’re talking about! Others poke fun at their Scrabble skills and make jokes about how complicated some clans’ names can be: for example, “The-Coveted-Fangirls,” named after characters from the popular Japanese anime series Sword Art Online. Here are five tweets that cracked us up this week:

The next sentence is about how Mark Cuban didn’t seem too happy when he found out his team was being renamed while listening to a podcast hosted by Barstool Sports’ CEO Dave Portnoy. He tweeted at one point during show in response to its host, “Dave Portnoy what’s the deal with changing my team name from Mavs to Stars?”
The next sentence is about how people have reacted differently. Some are overjoyed by the change because it sounds more like a professional sports organization while others say its too feminine and not intimidating enough for an NBA team.

There are plenty of clan names from all over the world, but some of the most common are:

The McLeod Clan(Scottish Americans, Canada, and US Territories such as Hawaii). Some people have German or Irish surnames that might sound like clans too. There is no one way to define a clan name for everyone because there are so many different types! The term “clan” comes from Gaelic origins. Some Scots use it in place of family names. Many families also choose to adopt patronymics which first come from Scotland but became popular in other countries including Norway and Sweden during the Viking Age. Patronymy is a system of naming that uses the name of one’s father or ancestor as their own surname.
Here are some tips to keep in mind when choosing your clan:
The MacDonald Clan*(Scotland)*is typically spelled with two “a”s and an asterisk, which denotes it is pronounced like “macdonald.” *It can also be translated into Gaelic as ‘son of Donald.’*So if you have Scottish ancestry or just want to honor your heritage, this could be a great choice for you! The McDougal Clan has a similar spelling but means son of Dougal.*Examples include actors James McAvoy and Jared Padalecki. While many people will be interested in the history behind these names, keep in mind that they are unlikely to register as a trademark and it may not be prudent to use them for this reason.

It can also be translated into Gaelic as ‘son of Kenneth.’*If you want your clan name to have roots in Scotland or just want something that sounds really cool, then this could be a great choice! The McKennon Clan has a similar spelling but means son of Kennan.*Examples include actor Ryan Reynolds. Again, while many people will find the meaning behind these names interesting, keep in mind that they are unlikely to register as a trademark and it may not be prudent to use them for this reason.
Some of the most humorous clan names would have to be The Clan Chiavatti.. That’s right, I couldn’t make up my own name so I googled “weirdest last name” + “US. The Cline family is also worth noting because you’re guaranteed some good laughs when people ask how your parents could spell their surname with two different letters. We don’t know if there was confusion about which letter should come first or what!
