For the bride and her parents it was a real treat to wear a 1950’s wedding dress. It was one of the only times the woman of the house felt like they were actually being considered in the wedding venue.
I guess when you’re trying to get your parents to do something, you’re kind of doing it wrong.
The 1950s were a great time for a wedding, and by that I mean they were a time when almost any woman had a chance to get married with virtually no fuss or drama. Now we have the modern age, and the modern-day bride is still a person who can get her parents to do something. However, a 1950s woman can now also get her parents to do something they’re probably not ready to do. Like wear a 1950s wedding dress.
This is a perfect example of the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” philosophy. The 1950s are the golden age of wedding dresses, and yet the wedding dress is actually not a common wedding dress. It’s only been for a few decades since the first wedding dress was made, and that’s when it was introduced.
In the 1950s, weddings were still relatively informal. The bride and groom would just walk down the aisle together and be married, then get their respective parents to help them put on a formal dress. That may sound ridiculous, but it was the norm even back then.
Wedding dresses were also not very expensive back then. In fact, if the bride was a very good seamstress, she could be just as well-off as they were in the 1950s. The dress was then usually hand-made and could range from the basic white and black dresses to elaborate designs, from tuxedos to full gowns.
Our wedding dress is a 1950s tuxedo dress, one of those tuxedos that has a full skirt and full length sleeves and can be worn with either a black bow or a simple flower. Its material is a white satin and it is made from stretchy fabric that can be easily removed. We still have to have it altered every year because it is so versatile.
After a lot of consideration, I decided to go with a black bow. It is also the color of the bow on the dress I am wearing in this picture. When I first saw it, I thought it looked a little silly because I didn’t know what it meant. I don’t know what the bow means or what it means to us in the 1950s, but it is a beautiful shade of black and I love it, and it fits in perfectly with the dress.
I know this one was a big decision, but I think it was one of the best I’ve ever made. I have always been a huge fan of vintage, retro, and vintage-inspired dresses. The dress I am wearing in this picture is one of the best dresses I have ever owned. I loved the color, and the price was right. I cannot wait to wear it at my wedding.
