Animal Crossing is a game that many people have fond memories of.
It’s been around for over 15 years, and the latest release was Animal Crossing: New Horizons on November 20th. The best part about it? You can create your own character and name them whatever you want! This article will show you some funny cliches to avoid when naming your new villager in Animal Crossings newest iteration, as well as what to do instead!
Don’t name your villager something like: ‘Ducky’ or ‘Lazy’. These names are fine for other animals, but you want to be creative with someone who is essentially YOU. Do name them after a historical figure! This way they have some personality and may resonate better than just naming them randomly. Embrace their quirks and do not forget to add a bit of charm in there too. The more specific the detail about this person, the better!
“I’m George Washington.” “You’re my favorite president!” -George Washington said as he gave his new friend an unexpected hug!
Everyone knows that George loves hugs.. he’s actually been hugging since 2004 on average every day!! (He can’t help it and he doesn’t care what people say) Do not give your villager a ‘normal’ name! This can be difficult, but try to think of something that is different than the typical. The more specific detail you offer about this person’s identity will also make them stand out from other villagers.
“I’m Wendell!” “Wow, I’ve never met someone with this unusual last name.” -Wendell said as they looked around at all the new friends they had made today on their first day in town! (They are looking forward to seeing everyone else tomorrow!) They still don’t know much English yet so please talk slowly for right now ^^; Thank you for understanding 🙂
Sidenote:
Once you have a good idea of the type of villager you want to create, take note on what they will typically wear.
Decide if this is something that can be changed or not and make sure it matches with their personality! It’s always nice when people are looking at your in game avatar and know who it is without guessing ^^;
- Do not write numbers or bullet points.
- End of Long-form Content ?
- What to do in your Animal Crossing Town:
- Collect a variety of bugs! (My favorite is the cicada)
- Turn on music and dance with other villagers!
Get dressed up for special occasions like festivals or being mayor. You can dress up as one of the villagers too, but be careful who you choose – it might affect your friendship level with them. Speaking of clothing..there are so many items available that I could never get bored dressing my character every day. Wearing crazy outfits around town often gets me funny looks from people though which is sometimes awkward when someone recognizes me outside my virtual world haha (speaking about Nintendo Switch Online). My all time favorite outfit was this cowgirl look I put together.
Meet your new neighbor!
Invite some friends and get a house upgrade to live in style with them! (But don’t worry if you’re not into that–you can still visit their place!)

What is Animal Crossing? If you’ve been living under a rock, or just haven’t caught up on all of these “every child should know about it by now” facts yet, then let me fill you in. Think happy thoughts like catching bugs and running around town looking at other people’s houses and taking a break from your life.
Animal Crossing is the best game ever created by Nintendo, and I’m not even just saying that because of my childhood addiction to it (though I totally am).
It’s an adventure simulator game where you move into this little town with all these cute animals who live there. You can get jobs at the “pizza place,” visit neighbors and their houses, or go play games in Nook’s shop! There are tons of things to do- so many that it would take me weeks to list them all here..

Watch this video on how to make a paper-craft animal crossing village house out of paper. It’s so easy and the kids will love it as well. This is also my favorite way to use up scraps I have left over from other projects since you can cut them into any shape or size that you want. It doesn’t matter if they’re all different, in fact some people might even prefer it because then each one has their own unique design;)

One of the most important elements in ACNL (other than packing up your house to get ready for winter) is visiting other people’s towns to trade items or just chat with them about what they’ve been doing lately! This can be done by linking up a friend using Local Play or by finding someone who has their town open publicly so that anyone can visit it). It takes some time but once you have many friends
